Internal Sales Support – Hydraulics – Christchurch

My client, Hyspecs, have been in business for 50 years and are NZ’s largest privately owned hydraulic engineering company with branches in NZ and Australia. They are a one-stop shop for hydraulic design, manufacture, building, parts and service, and are seeking an Internal Sales Support person to join their Christchurch team.

The Role
This role is primarily support for the sales team but can also involve the service and engineering teams. If you are the sort of person who enjoys solving a problem, has attention to the detail and enjoys taking things apart just to see how they work – this could be the job for you. It’s a busy role and you will often find yourself having multiple tasks at one time. So you must be able to cope with this. Whilst the role is busy it is also rewarding, and opportunities can exist for those who prove themselves.
Your tasks could include:
- Assisting the Service, Sales and Engineering teams with sourcing parts, information and/or solutions for the customer.
- Working directly with customers (via email, on the phone and face-to-face) to supply components and/or source alternatives for them.
- Taking part in technical training.
- Assisting the teams with changing motors or assembling valves.
- Helping out in our store which holds a large variety of components.
Hyspecs are looking for:
- Experience in the industry and hydraulics knowledge would be a big advantage but Hyspecs are willing to train an engineering graduate.
- A mechanical engineering or similar qualifications would be an advantage.
- Experience in building and maintaining customer relationships or a friendly, honest personality that will enable you to learn this on the job.
- Experience or interests in the areas of engineering, mechanical engineering or mechanics in general is a must as you need to be of this mindset to do well in this role.
- Someone who can work both from a desk and also a workbench.
- Can learn and retain technical information.

- Has a mechanical or engineering way of thinking
- Communicates clearly and respectfully.
- Completes paperwork accurately.
- Has a desire to learn.
- Manages time well and can juggle multiple tasks.
