South Island Sales Manager – Commercial Plumbing

My client has 60 years’ experience supplying plumbing products for demanding commercial environments, such as hospitals, prisons, schools, sports stadiums, shopping malls, accessible bathrooms and all types of public buildings. Products include engineered plumbing valves, electronic flow management systems, high security plumbing solutions and front of wall accessories, from respected international suppliers along with their own in-house solutions.

From their Christchurch-based branch, they have built a customer base of commercial plumbers, merchants and architects; resulting in significant sales growth in the South Island.

They are now seeking a Sales Manager to continue their trajectory, and take over the sales and branch management.

About the role

  • Responsible for achieving budgets, and branch management;
  • Growing sales from commercial plumbers & construction companies, along with plumbing & building merchants across the South Island;
  • Managing and growing existing relationships; and establishing and developing new customers;
  • Supporting specification activity in conjunction with the company’s South Island Technical Consultant;
  • Supporting specified projects through quoting, ordering, delivery, installation advice, and after sales support;
  • Assisting customers with product selection, installation and after sales service;
  • Quoting, sales programming & preparation of technical information and documentation requirements.
  • Understanding needs and preparing technical recommendations to Merchants and Plumbers at the project quoting and installation stage. Managing projects through the qualification to quoting to the installation stages.
  • Provide training, presentations and demonstrations of products to various stakeholders.
  • Conference and tradeshow attendance.
  • Staff & operations management.

About you

  • Proven in growing technical sales, ideally in the plumbing or building industries;
  • Some people management experience;
  • Can work autonomously – you will report to the Managing Director in Auckland;
  • Some knowledge of plumbing products;
  • Organised and task-oriented.
