Contract & Placing Supervisor – ReoFab Christchurch
The Christchurch branch of reinforcing steel supplier, ReoFab, are seeking someone with experience in the reinforcing steel industry or with construction experience for a Contract & Placing Supervisor role.

ReoFab Christchurch is located in West Christchurch, operating from a large and modern, purpose-built workshop. Operating the latest automated machinery and state-of-the-art delivery systems.
About the role
ReoFab are looking for candidates who are seeking a long-term career path, in an established and successful reinforcing steel business.
This challenging position will require you to work accurately and efficiently to ensure bar bending delivery schedules are on track, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction through accurate detailing and good customer communication.
ReoFab are open to international applicants with a Bachelor of Engineering degree or similar with experience in draughting and/or detailing reinforcing steel at consultant level.
Role duties include:
- Reviewing bar bending schedules for accuracy and numeracy.
- Managing all aspects of contracts/projects from programming to delivery. This includes visiting sites to ensure projects are on schedule, checking the steel placing work, staff are managed, and resolving any issues.
- Reading plans.
- Detailing reinforcing steel.
- Providing supporting documentation and document control.
- Liaising with customers, managing expectations, balancing workloads.
- Record keeping and reporting on labour requirements.
Requirements
- Advanced plan reading skills in the area of reinforced concrete.
- Highly organised and methodical, with high levels of attention to detail.
- Excellent numeracy.
- Great oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer literary skills.
- Fluent within the NZ contracting environment.
- Experience managing the variation/change order process.
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Typical candidates this role might appeal to:
- People with contract supervisory/management experience in reinforcing steel, or concrete or structural steel.
- Carpenters/builders with a knowledge of reinforcing steel who would like to move off the tools and into a new role but still be predominantly site based.
