My client, hydraulics supplier Hyspecs is looking for a one-of-a-kind Storeperson – a role that is no ordinary Storeperson’s role but with a mix of tasks that supports all their departments and is a key part of a highly motivated and busy team. They have a great culture and a team that works hard but has fun too. They are constantly looking for ways to improve themselves and use any mistakes as tools for learning.

Hyspecs has been in business for 50 years with some of the best in the business as part of their team. They are the one-stop shop for hydraulic design, manufacture, projects, parts, and service. They have branches in both NZ and Australia and are a proud Kiwi owned company with all their owners working within the business.

Hyspecs Christchurch are based in Birmingham Drive, Middleton.

The role

Due to the nature of their industry and the parts that they stock it is imperative that you come from a hydraulic or mechanical type background. One of the key requirements of this role is that you are familiar with and have experience with these types of industries – without it you cannot effectively operate within this role. As an example, you might have experience in car parts or other metal parts, construction equipment (diggers, excavators), forklifts, experience as a hose doctor, or have an elevating platform background.

This role is very busy and it is therefore important that you can manage time well. It is also very important that you have excellent interpersonal skills and work well within a team. Their inventory is key to a successful business therefore the role needs to function well.

This is a full-time, permanent Mon-Fri (8am-5pm) role, employed directly by Hyspecs. A good salary is on offer, according to skills and experience, etc.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • The picking of a large variety of stock items for out-going orders or for projects that their team has been contracted for.
  • Ensuring dispatch runs efficiently and that all in-coming and out-going freight is correct, and processes are followed.
  • Maintenance of stock in general including keeping a tidy store, maintaining minimum levels of certain stock and keeping accurate locations of stock.
  • Ordering items from suppliers as requested including regular stock orders to maintain stock levels.
  • Receipting in of stock.
  • Assisting with the organization of and conducting of stocktakes.
  • When needed, assist with the assembly and/or changes to outgoing parts that are specific to a customers requirements.
  • Working with management to improve processes and help implement strategies that contribute to growth of the company.

  • Excellent time management.
  • A good memory and the ability to learn and retain information.
  • An ability to work well with others, but also alone.
  • Forklift license an advantage.
